Here are some photos of Chelsea, Jordan and Ben. Jordan is Chelsea's first cousin from Las Vegas. I think after a week together, they finally got along. The pictures in the jeep were taken at Palisades mall in NJ and the rest were at our house.

Here's pictures of the trip I took back to MD for the weekend. Mom threw me a going away party which we wanted to do earlier but didn't find time. I'm realizing how much work it is to keep a home in tip-top shape. Tom's house here in Tampa requires a lot of up-keep. I dont know how mom does it. Since I'm still jobless I've volunteered to help Tom around the house. I've been doing pool cleaning duty and getting a lot of sun. Today we also finally worked on the outside speakers. He's had speakers mounted outside since he moved in but they never worked. I went in the attic (and became drenched in sweat btw) and traced the cables. We then ran additional cables to hook up to Tom's stereo. Now we've got a laptop on wireless, hooked up to the stereo... and can play our mp3 collections on the network to the outside speakers while we're swimming. Very cool. Running the extra speaker wires we had to make a hole through the wall to the attic... but it's not noticeable. Creating that hole we were also able to use an outlet in the attic to power our new nite lite which is pretty funny. Here's pictures of the new living room nite lite:

Just some random pictures I've taken around the house while I've been on vacation. Yesterday I finally went to the Motor Vehicle place (or as they call it here, the Tax Collector). Obtained my new Florida tags and license. I'm so lucky... my VA safety inspection expired a couple months ago and my VA license would have expired on my birthday this year. Also, I would have to take a test again to renew my VA license. Moving to FL... they gave me a new license and it doesn't expire until 2011.

Here are the pictures that I posted on snapfish. There are a few pictures from the pool and in the house. We went to Playland last weekend. It was pretty good because you don't have to pay an entrance fee. Just pay for the rides you go on. Chelsea was pretty much scared to go on every ride except for two.

So it's been a week now in Tampa... and just wanted to post an update. My friend Chris stayed with us until about thursday the 4th. So I didn't get much done until then. We had a lot of fun exploring, hiting the pool, and visiting the local hangouts every night. I've met a lot of people already which is great. The people here seem very friendly. I'm always being waved by on the road and it seems pretty easy to meet people.
I'm pretty much settled in although I have a couple of boxes left that I still need to unpack. Today I went to Bank of America and set up a new account as there isn't a Navy Federal Credit Union anywhere in the Tampa Bay area. Bank of America gave me a lot of good deals though including a rewards credit card with no monthly fee so I'll definitely be using that a lot for buying plane tickets. Last saturday I joined the local gym. I'm so sore as I haven't worked out in ages. Hoping I'll get back into it here. I've set up my car insurance but have not gone to the motor vehicle place yet. I'll probably go tomorrow to get my car registered here. The timing couldn't be perfect because the law is pretty laxed here with regards to your automobile. There is no safety inspection or emissions test (which would have been due for me if I was still in VA). You only put a license plate on the rear. Doesn't seem to be a restriction on Tint (probably because of the heat).
My big good news of the day though is that I received my first job offer. The job offer is for AT&T for a contract position at Macdill AFB. I had a phone interview with them last friday and I knew it went very well. I was interviewed by like 5 people over the phone. I never expected them to call me back today though and actually present me an offer without even meeting me in person. I did very well in the interview though... and probably on top of me having a clearance that was transferable to this job... put me in the running. I also had my 2nd interview with Raymond James (in person). Raymond James is the same company that my roommate Tom works for. It went okay although I think I messed up a couple of times. Tom has been really hooking me up though and mentioned to his boss that I got an offer from AT&T today. Sounds like I got some good feedback so I may even get a 2nd job offer. Cross your fingers! If I do get that 2nd job offer... gonna be tough to make a decision.
Anyway, miss the family! Now that it looks like I might be working soon I'll probably be able to make the trip out to NY for Ben's christening.

Here's pictures from my move to my new place in Tampa, Florida. Also posted some pictures of a bunch of my friends in the DC area I saw before leaving or who helped me move.
My friend Chris came with me and we had an amazingly long drive. The entire trip took us about 18 and a half hours. We stopped a couple of times though. We didn't leave until 11AM on August 1st and then arrived in Tampa at 530AM on August 2nd. Even though the trip was long...I had a blast. Very thankful that Chris came with me. Then I had an informal lunch meeting with Tom, his boss, and one of their co-workers. Needless to say I was tired at lunch. Tom's boss is the one I think wants to hire me. The lunch was mainly just to get to know each other because they really need somebody soon but they dont have time to meet me for the formal interview until August 9th. The lunch went pretty well and they seem like pretty cool people.
The only complaint about the trip was the uhaul truck. I will never ever rent from them again. Basically I reserved the truck and auto transport weeks in advanced but they never called me until August 1st when I had already left Virginia. I attempted to call them numerous times only to be told someone would call me back shortly...or the phone was busy. I ended up just going to a local uhaul store and got lucky one was available. We then came back to pick up the auto transport on July 29th to discover that the brake wires had been stripped and cut. We then had to use another transport...and attach everything ourselves because they were closed that day. When night time hit...we discovered that our reflectors and rear lights were not working. They would come on for 20 second periods and then shut off for awhile. We debated about waiting until day time but ended up just using our emergency lights whenever the lights would go out.
Anyway, enjoy the pictures. Also included pictures of my new home. Hope you like them.
