Jill and I decided to have a small party at the house the day before Independence Day. We invited a lot of our friends over for food, drinks, and games. It was pretty much an all day event. We had a blast. I wish I took more pictures of the evening but I was having too much fun. Thanks to all of our friends that took the drive out to Largo. If anybody has more pictures I can combine with this... let me know. -Mike

Here's a video from the House Party we had. A friend of ours is teaching their young one the way of the light saber. She is so adorable.

My future mother-in-law is in town this week to help Jill in finding a wedding dress. While in town, we decided to take a trip to Orlando and check out Disney. We visited Disney/MGM Studios and then went to Downtown Disney for more shopping and dining at Planet Hollywood. Disney/MGM Studios had their final Star Wars weekend which was interesting. We got to see Warwick Davis (Plays Wicket the EWOK in ROTJ amoung other things) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO). I could not believe how incredibly packed it was for a weekday... but loads of fun nonetheless. My inner geek-ness came out... so did Jill's, but she wouldn't admit to it.

Rolling Thunder is an annual event in DC on Memorial Day weekend. This was my first time actually participating. I had a great experience. Thanks to my friend Chris for letting me borrow his Ducati. I had a blast and can't wait until next year. Jill will definitely be with me next time.

My nephew Ben already had his birthday but we decided to celebrate again at my mom's house. We had a great time with family, friends, and good food! Jhason and Virginie came over with their daughter Isabelle. Roland and Cindy also came with their daughter Mahalia. I still can't believe how grown both of the daugters are. My friend Rich Koza came over to help me with the crowd of kids at the party.

For the long memorial day weekend Jill and I visited our respective families. Jill went to visit her family in Buffalo and surprised her mom for her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY future mother-in-law! I wish I could have went too. Bad Jill for not taking pictures. So Jill wasn't able to join me as well. Rich, Karen, Chelsea, and Ben visited my mom in Maryland and I just had to see them along with my mom who I haven't seen in so long. These are pictures from Friday when I spent the day with the family. We went to a local park, had some amazing filipino food (yummy), and then went to the RIO in Gaithersburg.

After having dinner with my family I stopped by to see my friends Jhason, Virginie, and their one year-old Isabelle who live pretty close to my mom. Was so good to catch up and see how much Isabelle has grown since last I saw her.

Jill is away on business and I'm home alone, bored out of my mind. I dug up my old video camera and fooled around a bit... tried to do some video editing on my computer. I haven't done that in so long. I used to be very much into it a couple of years ago. This is kinda corny but let me know what you think. I messed up in a couple of places but I didn't feel like redoing it.

I'm back home after two weeks of straight training. I'm very lucky to work for a company that puts me through so much training every year. This year I decided to finally try to see if I can get my MCSE certification. I've been working with the technology for so long in my professional career but I have never taken any of the exams to become officially certified. Anyway, through some recommendations, I took the MCSE 2003: Security, Security+ two-week training course through the Training Camp. 13 days later of constant studying and taking 8 exams, I am finally certified. I obtained a total of 5 certifications by the end of the course. I owe it to the Training Camp, my company for putting up the cost, and to a very good teacher (Matt Brussel). If you can get your company to pay for it... and if you've atleast worked with the technology in some aspect... I definitely would recommend this route over any other type. Our teacher Matt took some pictures during the two weeks and you can check 'em out here.

Several people have asked me how I post my videos. Here's how:

  • I use either a DV Video Camera or DV Point-and-shoot camera
  • This creates a .avi file in DV format
  • I copy the .avi file to my computer and convert it to .wmv
  • The conversion will take a 4min video (normally 40MB) and compress it down to around 4MB
  • I use Windows Media Encoder - you can go here for the exact step-by-step process
  • Then I use either www.YouTube.com or www.Bolt.com to upload my video
  • Once the photos are uploaded, each site will give you code that I copy and paste onto a blog post

This weekend they had the 12th Annual Smooth Jazz Fest at Coachman Park, Clearwater. Jill and I met up with a couple of our friends. Some great music, food, and art. I'll have to post a picture of the piece of art we bought at the Jazz Fest when I get a chance. Oh, and Brian McKnight got on stage about 9PM or so.

Every year around April 1st is the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. They convert a lot of the roads in St. Petersburg to an actual race track. Believe it or not... this was the first race I've ever been to. We had an absolute blast. I can't wait 'till the next race I go to. After the race we got to see a lot of the cars up close.
